I have a Kindle 2, but I don’t have an US credit card. How can I get ebooks without a US address? Or is my Kindle 2 useless for me?

I know that Kindles require the particular network for downloading books, right? When it comes to network issues, products (e.g. iPhone) would always take a longer time to appear in Canada. I want to get a kindle……………

Can you buy the Kindle (e-book reading device) from the US and use it Canada. Even if you can’t connect to Amazon’s free WIFI in Canada that’s ok. But from Canada can you still purchase the e-books on the Kindle (because you need an internet connection to do that right?) If its not possible, does anyone have any Canadian e-book alternatives?
