Is the Amazon Kindle eBook Reader Worth It?
geeks.pirillo.com – http – I’m not sure how many of you are into eBooks, but you may have heard of Amazon’s Kindle. It’s been out for quite awhile now. The Kindle is interesting, in that you can download over 200000 books instantly. chris.pirillo.com Distributed by Tubemogul.

It has like a 2 inch screen. . what the hell is he talking about, and not to mention that it will kill your eyes.

It would be cooler if it allowed you to access free library books.

Mac will come out with a colour version of this that is also an i-Pod. . . . you can bet on it!

ok. . let me explain myself a bit more. . clearly. I meant that in the future. . . . when all trees are pretty much GONE. . . it could help to have this as an alternative choice to have the printed word. . . (or uploaded word then). . . . . and could then be used in place of what it is used now. . books. By no means I am implying I hate books. . . in fact I love reading and I love books. . . . but let’s be realistic. . . and think ahead.

don’t u have to buy the books??? as far as i know we didn’t have to buy books in high schools

This is why I just can’t take Chris Pirillo serious. I find it hard to believe that he would rather read a 400 page book on an iphone. Really?
December 10th, 2009 at 1:29 pm
wow yeah the ipphone SUCKS when u read books. . . . this guy has no idea what he is talk about.
December 10th, 2009 at 1:53 pm

The Kindle DX has a larger screen I am interested to see how this will be utilized for textbooks for students. Even the regular sized Kindle for novels and literature is ideal for students. I can’t wait to see the color e-ink. Will be amazing for students! I know I would have loved to have this in high school and college.

The Kindle 2 is now available on Amazon. It includes a read aloud feature and I THINK auto page turning as well.

Agreed! Backlit screens are great for gaming and web surfing but If I am going to read for hours at a time, I want it to be on my Kindle. Less eye strain, no tired hands from reading heavy books, simple push of a button to turn a page. I love my Kindle. I am biased. I admit it

You do make some interesting points. One thing though is the screen is designed to mimic paper. Therefore it strains your eyes less. If you read A LOT I feel the Kindle is very worth it. I feel they could have done some things better such as more options to organize books or mark them as read. I would not want to read an entire book on a backlit screen. I do read for hours at a time and every day. My Kindle is my fave gadget. I appreciate your opinions. Oh and the web browsing on it kinda sucks.

Give a guy a book on the kindle and another on an iPhone. Let them read it and see who has the eyes in the most pain afterwards.

A weekly trip to the library is not uncomon to me, an I never leave with less than 8 or 10 books. I also listen to books at work, so think this is a pretty awsome item. The read aloud feature intrigues me. When is the second edition coming out?
December 10th, 2009 at 5:13 pm
you bastard, the point of the dim screen is that it doesn’t strain your eyes. it’s not meant to be read in the dark.
December 10th, 2009 at 5:44 pm
ummm ok soo im sorry but the kindle is much better. think about it. how easy do u think it is to read on an iPhone. it’s def way too small.
December 10th, 2009 at 6:12 pm
true, and after reading a book on your iphone for an hour you get a free headache too.
eyestrain is the difference, the kindle is worth every penny
December 10th, 2009 at 6:42 pm
ridiculous
reading is about words, not paper
I carry 1500 books in my jacket pocket, thats integrity of words
December 10th, 2009 at 6:43 pm
i think e books are a disgrace they take away the integrity and personal nature of the classic paperback book.

I remember getting a powerbook for middleschool back then and it was the coolest thing. They called us, me and my friend, paul and phil, which were to sicence type of guys that answered stuff on a futuristic tv show. A powerbook is like a macbook only about one or two decades older.

Interesting, if you have an Ipod touch or an Iphone, you can get a kindle ebook reader app for free and read kindle books on your ipod or iphone.
December 10th, 2009 at 9:14 pm
ok. . I understand your point. . but if u were in high school and could trade a heavy back pack u would love this gadget instead. And paperless. . its the way for the future. Not for everyone. . but does have many possibilities.
December 10th, 2009 at 9:52 pm
way too expensive. content too. what are they thinking?
December 10th, 2009 at 10:25 pm
wow. . . way too much talking. . . fyi next vid please just cut to the point.

I like the idea of tossing the Kindle into my Messenger Bag, and reserve my iPhone’s battery, since a Kindle can last weeks, iPhone can’t really last a day if your reading on it all the time.
