The Kindle is only sold on Amazon, and Amazon only allow order with US address and US credit card. Even if you have the Kindle device, it will be a headache to buy Kindle books, as it still requires you to have US address and US credit card.

I'll suggest you to go for this sony reader instead:

Read this review and it should help your decision:

Amazon. ca doesn't sell them yet. Probably they're working through some legal aspects. I would expect to see them soon. Can you order it from the US on Amazon. com?

No, you can't. See the question "Is Kindle available to customers outside the United States?" from the link below for details:

http://www. amazon. com/gp/redirect. html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww. amazon. com%2Fgp%2Fhelp%2Fcustomer%2Fdisplay. html%3Fie%3DUTF8%26nodeId%3D200316870%26ref%255F%3Dhp%255Fnavbox%255Fhh%255Fk2faq&tag=querystr-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957

The free wireless access won't work in Canada, so the best feature of the Kindle vanishes if you are outside the United States. I'll say the sony readers are the best alternative to the Kindle. Here are the selections:

http://www. amazon. com/gp/redirect. html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww. amazon. com%2Fs%3Fie%3DUTF8%26rs%3D%26ref%255F%3Dsr%255Fnr%255Fi%255F0%26keywords%3Dsony%2520reader%26qid%3D1244797201%26rh%3Di%253Aaps%252Ck%253Asony%2520reader%252Ci%253Aelectronics&tag=querystr-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957

I suggest you to go for the Sony PRS700BC. It has touch screen and good PDF support. Read this review and I guess it can help you decide:
